One Principle That Will Make You Successful In Every Area Of Life

It has been said that “Time is money”. If you are American, you have heard this saying many times. It indicates what we value as a culture: efficiency, process, profit, success, etc. We have accepted it as true and allow it to drive our lives and decision-making. This causes us to put work at the top of our priority list. While many people do this, living this way will not make you successful in every area of life!

If you live your life by the principle that time is money, you will repeatedly place value on the wrong things. You will pursue one form of success (such as financial gain) while missing out on success in every other area of life. True success is achieved when you are living with purpose and glorifying God with your life. That kind of life will never end in regret.

In order to live a life worth living, you must re-evaluate what is driving you. If the “bottom line” (ie. financial profitability) is your greatest measure of success, then you need to make some drastic changes in your perspective. If you lose money, you can always earn more. But you can never gain back time. Once you’ve spent it, it’s gone forever.

While time can be used for earning money, the greater reality you must face is this: Time is much more than money, TIME IS LIFE!

The Way You See And Use Your Time Will Determine Your Success In Life!

This is why seeing time as money leads to a less than satisfying life. While you need to earn money and are called to work responsibly, that is not the purpose of life, it is simply a part of life.

A life lived with the aim of making the most money will be a life filled with regret when it comes to an end. That is not a successful life!

God desires your life to be lived for His glory. You do this by fulfilling His purposes for your life. God’s word says “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”1

It is clear that God wants you to make the best use of your time by understanding His will and doing it.

The realization you must come to is this: A successful life is achieved in how you choose to use your time. And there is no better use of your time than fulfilling the purposes God created you for! This will make you successful in every area of life!

If you focus all your time on earning money you will likely neglect His will for other areas of your life such as your health, your marriage and family, your ministry and even your relationship with Him. Sadly, many ministers and missionaries make the same mistake by giving all their time to their ministry. While this may seem noble, it is still just as tragic.

Becoming Successful In Every Area Of Your Life

A successful life is one that succeeds in every area: Spiritually, Relationally, and in Fulfilling your purpose. You were called to more than just earning money or pouring your life into your work. God wants your time to be used to accomplish His will in every area of your life. Consider these questions to determine whether you are headed towards becoming successful in every area of life:

God has a good plan for your life, but if you don’t manage your time well it will be sabotaged. Don’t let that happen to you! What changes do you need to make to make the best use of your time?
